Kewpie Dolls

Kewpie (or cupie) dolls and figurines are based on comic strip-like illustrations by Rose O'Neill that appeared in Ladies' Home Journal in 1909. They were first produced in Ohrdruf, Germany. The early dolls, especially signed or bisque, are highly collectible and worth thousands of dollars. These are not, but they are precious to me because they belonged to my mother.

I made the largest one. I bought it in greenware and finished it. It was fired three times. The third time for the china painted face.
