styling the basics: easy workwear

take a plain pair of grey slacks suitable for the office, a plain polka dot blouse or work shirt and a grey hued pair of simple shoes. flats are fine for this occasion and preferred since heels in a working environment will be too hard on your feet after a long day at work (i only ever really wear them if im actually 'going out' going out).
if you do like a little more height during your day then opt for wedges - which are pretty comfortable once you find the right pair. i wear them every now and then at work and i never have any tired feet complaints at the end of the day.

here are three ways i have transformed our base outfit above into three cute work wear suitable pieces:

  1. cover your front in a cute peachy sleeveless tunic or shift. it adds a punch of colour but nothing that is too 'in your face' or distracting. add similar hued accessories, a simple hijab and a nice big bag to hold all your daily needs.
  2. add a cute vest to brighten up the look! here i have matched it with a vest that holds a sweet swatch of colours that tweaks up the look without going overboard.
  3. a classic red coat over your work outfit will always brighten the look up a bit. in my opinion a simple block of red against monochromatic bases looks classy, chic and professional. it helps to create a very 'city chic' feel to the look.

modesty tip - if copying the look above - try to find a similar blouse in a much longer length as the one on display above would not cover your behind properly in the 2nd and 3rd options shown.

what look would you most likely wear to work?
