Hi Anon... the dimensions i use are about 70cm wide and from 1.5 - 2 metres long for rectangular hijabs. thats long enough to give you good coverage. i make mine extra long so i can wrap more of it to ensure it covers my chest and so that i can do more creative things with it, because of this i usually go for the 2 metre long version, but most average hijabs are about 1.5 metres i think, maybe even less.
All you need to do is get material cut to that length, then sew up around the edges so the material doesn't fray. it is so easy to do and so much cheaper than buying new hijabs. here in Australia most nice hijabs are about $30 so to make one yourself and paying only $5-10 for material is pretty good.
