my plan for the next few weekends

i'm sick of buying expensive abayas here in australia and hate the fact that i always i problems with the lengths of my abayas so i decided to make my own. today i bought this online for about AUD $15 (including shipping) from here

i was looking all over the place and the net for abaya sewing patterns to start making my own abayas at home but couldnt find any. i looked on ebay and all i came up with was some bad kaftan patterns. i looked through many sewing pattern websites but the closest thing they had were patterns for long dresses that had to many panels and so on - when all i needed was a straight up and down abaya-like gown. then i cracked onto this beauty - under the "religious and holiday" section - never wouldve thought to look there.

it is perfect!

these are supposed to be for dress-up/fancy dress parties when you wanna look like something from the nativity scene. i really like the men's one on the bottom left - perfect for abaya! and the women in hijab (supposed to be mary i guess) minus the belt. and the patterns will be naturally loose too. Can't wait to get started sewing!
