i was a bit 'iffy'... because i know once walking through the metal detectors the pins in my hijab will go 'beep beep'.. and im a little concerned the airport people will go "take it off" in front of everyone (meaning my hijab) because of the pins. plus i know they allow earrings, but im not to sure about sharp hijab pins as i guess they could be regarded as dangerous or something (the wouldn't allow my eyebrow tweezers on last time. i had to throw them out.. so im guessing pins are in the same category).
so to prevent this i have decided to go 'dangerously pinless' and try my best to wind my hijab so tight that thing would be like a straight-jacket on my head.
My friend was like "why dont you wear an Al-Amira hijab, there is your answer - no pins - its fitted - nothing to worry about"...
But im like "nooo nooo noo noo noooo". im sorry but i dont do Al-Amira's. i hate those pull on hijabs. They may be great for prayer but i hate them for outside the house.
They have those weird little sewn-on undercaps that i just hate. i hate undercaps by themselves.

My personal hijab style is more khaleeji style - where the scarf covers my hair, but not my forehead. That is the big reason i hate Al-Amira style.. the way they cover the forehead (see the pic above). I like my forehead to be free, thankyou. Plus they give the forehead too much of a broad rounded shape that looks stupid on me, because i already have a round face - so that style kinda flattens/shortens my face - know what i mean? i prefer to have a diamond shape going on.
This is more like me - see how the one scarf covers everything?... no undercaps!!
So with the no-pin decision and the definite no-Al-Amira decision, i think im gonna have to go for a look like above. To me it looks like this style could be done pinless, just tucking the long side of hijab into the space near my cheek, pulling it down over my chest.. it looks secure, right?
Or maybe go for a version like these girls - except with all my hair covered of course.

For the flights themselves im not too worried about my hijab being 100% tight and secured - but its the 2 hour transit wait in the next very busy airport, spent shopping and eating, that i am worried about.. i know and i can see myself now, tugging and poking my hijab around.
Make Dua for us for a safe trip!
