check out a quick Gulf News interview with emirati designer Rabia Z about her cute race day hijab looks.

here is what she says about them via gulf news:

Colour me ready (top right)

Vibrant jewel-toned colours complement one another to create this very young, summery look. 

Rabia says: "Effortlessly chic! Don't be afraid to play with your favourite jewel-coloured dresses and tops. Be sure to use colours that complement one another. This look is ideal for abaya wearers to jazz up their black shaylas." 

Black and White (top centre)

Love the beautiful top but won't buy it because it is sleeveless? Rabia uses a shawl to tastefully cover up without giving the feel of layering. For the "race" look, jazz up the exaggerated hat with a floral headband. 

Rabia says: "Uber, feminine chic. This is a look that works for all ages and was inspired by my mother who would dress up in this manner in the early '80s during her UK vacations. This look was a rage after the launch of my 2007 collection."

The headband works well for women who shy away from wearing hats. A vintage-coloured, long sleeveless dress - styled with a classic fitted tuxedo jacket and a big belt worn around the waist - helps create an empire cut look. This look is timeless, elegant and very comfortable. 

Rabia says: "The accessories inspired me to include the headbands in my already completed autumn-winter 2011 collection - as I simply love the effect they create - something which I had previously done in 2008 too."

a cute look from rihanna

now i am not a fan of fur (faux or real) but i think she looks too cute all rugged up in this hooded fluffy jacket. its a look a hijabi could pull off in winter time - just add some loose pants or skirt and a nice undercap underneath (and try out the black gloved look too). i would probably try out this look with a woolen coat because im really not into fur at all. even faux fur turns me off.

are you a hijabi with glasses?

i am. at first i hated having to wear them because unless you buy a plain black pair, it is hard to make it go with every single different hijab you own. i dont own a black pair, because black is too heavy for my complexion and just makes my face look really tired, so i try to not have black around it. i have started to buy more pairs in different shades and patterns, so they will go with more of the hijabs i own. and like with the hijab - if you have to wear it everyday, you may as well make it look good. i bought these two in the last couple of days...

a blue and white swirled pattern to go with my blue, white or grey toned hijabs...

a red pair, tinged with purple and side bling to go the the more warmer coloured hijabs i own. it goes great with the reds, purples, dark pinks and of course the neutral shades like black and grey...

aida is the english speaking abaya wearing sister in her-say on dubai tv. i love her cute abayas and hijabs.here are a few pics i found:

what message does she have for young Emarati women?

"I want to tell them, be positive,” says Aida. "When you wake up in the morning, smile. It really, really makes the rest of the day. Try to be different. Don't take the same route to work every day. Try a different route. Change your perspective in life. Do it for yourself, more than for anyone else. Believe in yourself. Don't let anyone stand in your way — not even yourself. When you believe in yourself, people around you will believe in you. I never thought I'd be where I am today. I took the initiative and pushed myself hard. I want others to do it. I want them to know they too can do what I do. I want to tell them, ‘Go out there and see what's happening around you!”

hijab isn't beautiful?

i had a rude comment from someone in public saying muslim women are made to wear hijab and look ugly. these pics are just to prove that hijab is beautiful. i posted them ages ago before i closed my blog (so the post was completely deleted) so here are the pics again. note - - - i love the makeup and although i would of course not go out in public like this - its great for a dress-up idea with the girls.
