carina is not the answer to your problems

Carina is an Egyptian company that successfully sells 'body wear' which is basically skin tight Lycra pieces that hijabies wear under normal western clothing in order to 'complete' the muhajaba look and appear 'covered'. In most cases it looks fine as it is meant to be used to cover things not covered by some western pieces - such as 3/4 length sleeves and a scooped neck etc. Check out the ones here to see what i mean:

this outfit needed a little more neck and arm coverage - slip on a Carina underneath to fix that problem:::

Another cute top that was in need of some extra coverage - so it was paired with a red Carina body top for the needed arm coverage:::
Same thing applies here:::

Usually its all about covering the arms. Hijabwise i think the girls should be covering their chests with their hijabs anyway (see here for an older post on the issue to know what i mean - start reading down around where the picture appears).

So all in all Carina body wear can be useful. However when i see a girl all dressed up in her finery wearing her Carina with a dress like this one below, i think to myself "that aint hijab".

It seems to me (and my observations) that many girls when they attend weddings, engagements, parties, etc.. break out the gorgeous evening dresses and slip it over a Carina, thinking that will do the job of covering up.

Sure the skin may be covered, but with the hijab pulled back off the chest and the dress being completely sleeveless - it kinda leaves you looking "dressed but naked".. know what i mean?

The breasts are on full display and accentuated and the arm SKIN may be covered but the form is not. its very tightly wrapped. This is one circumstance where i would not recommend wearing a Carina body top or something similar.

And don't forget that most of these beautiful evening dresses that girls wear are usually mostly backless, so wearing a skin-tight Lycra top underneath certainly DOES NOT do the trick of covering properly. It only accentuates the curves.

Also a large number of girls will wear these Carina tops under tight figure hugging STRAPLESS dresses as well, also with the hijab pulled off their chests. Try to imagine how un-hijab-like that looks. Another 'complaint' i have about this is that most of the time it looks down right ugly. Especially if you are not stick thin. Most girls who are curvy will carry a bit more 'meat' on their arms, so shoving your arms into a skin-tight Lycra top that is on show definitely does not look flattering. Trust me girls, if you are not stick thin, then stay the hell away from the Carina - evening gown look unless you like sausage arms.

instead i would choose an elegant evening cardigan, jacket or shrug to more loosely cover the arms (if you cant find a one-piece modest dress - very hard to find in western stores). It will look extremely more modest, flattering, well put together and gorgeous. And please cover your chest with your hijab!

Here is a non-Carina evening look i like (an old pic.... i know):::
dusty green
Here is an evening look with a shrug/jacket:::
this one itself i would wear a Carina top with.. but i would wear the shrug on top so you are still covering your arms loosely...

Remember to keep those Carina body tops for small patches of skin cover up - not mass affairs!!!
