sticking out

One of my darling friends (not mentioning any names) is soon to attend a great big Islamic Gala thingy with her soon-to-be husband.



She is dramatically flipping out over what to wear to said Gala event. We have run through a few different ideas. Me and Majie Vajie (Majda) keep tell ing her that she has to have this damn gorgeous yellow Goddess dress from Desertstore.com:::


I even went to the extent of putting together a set to see how she could rock it up for the gala. Now the dress is $170 US.. but its something that you would wear to many special occassions - galas, weddings, parties, etc.
(i couldnt find a nice cardigan or shrug to go with the dress on polyvore.com - i would try and get a nice silver one perhaps).

Once we convinced her to get the dress and convinced her that the colour was great for her complexion.. she finally said yes but then decided she didn't want to stand out in the crowd by wearing yellow.

I can understand if it made her feel uncomfortable - but i think this dress is awesome and so feminine. Its damn hot but still ultra classy! When the Australian dollar finally pulls it's finger out and decides to compete with the rest of the world economy, i will totally be ordering this dress from Desert Store. I would wear it no problems.. for me i wouldnt feel ike i was sticking out and it wouldnt be my intention to purposely stand out. my intention would only be to wear this delicious dress!!!!

Do you ever worry about standing out in the crowd because of your clothing?
