cute casual

here is a cute look i put together for a casual occassion - whether its the weekend or a day at uni.

today's look: flared trousers and long scarves

long, loose flared trousers give an easy look to this outfit. wear it with a long plain black top and a huge scarf to cover not only your hair but your bust as well for an instant hippy-chic look.

black & blue

blah blah blah... this is blue. (and black... in places)
which would you wear?

white tunic - three ways

plain items are best for dressing up or down or playing with and tweaking different looks from. here i have taken a long sleeved plain white tunic and dressed it up three ways.

here is a cute lazy-relaxed outfit perfect for strolls through a weekend market...

going out

how is this for an awesome night time outfit? i love the bright splashes of thrown-on colour on top of the white jacket and the so-bright blue of the dress.

dark winter

one thing that i love about winter here in Oz is that dark colours are the norm and expected. we kinda dress for the season in order to match the mood of the weather.
here is a warm, dark look for a dreary winter day:

how do you dress in winter?

styling the basics: the plain tunic

got a plain, long tunic just hanging around in your wardrobe that you dont know what to do with? well the plainer it is - the easier it is to work with!

a plain tunic in a muted colour can at first appear very drab and uninteresting, but with some nice wide legged trousers, a patterned scarf and some cute accessories - you can turn that drab tunic into a stylish basic!
  1. fake sleeves, a loose belt and flared jeans go great with this simple shirt-dress. pop on a detailed burgundy hijab (wrapped turkish style) and a similar coloured bag and you have one casual cute outfit!
  2. soft sandy tones can turn the plain tunic into a relaxed outfit with a beachy feel. a soft coloured hijab loosely draped over your head, peachy coloured sleeves and bag and a darker brown trouser complete the look.
  3. smart city workwear is easy to create with a dark blue trench coat, an abstract patterned hijab and grey work pants. a purple belt hidden under the jacket is added for extra style and is topped off with a large matching blue shoulder bag.
which is your fav? outfit 1, 2 or 3?

the boyfriend jean

these are very comfy as they are designed to be loose, a little bit crumpled and extremely casual. you can get them in even looser, wider styles than the one pictured below as well - just have a look around for them in stores.
i think the best way to wear them is to keep the street-casual look going by investing in some laid back sneakers (such as the converse pictured below). you can also dress it up a bit with an eclectic blazer, laid back tee (this one is super long!) and a classic bag with a long strap.

on the boardwalk

im going back home to tassie soon (the little triangle shaped island at the bottom of australia) and im gonna take my hHabibz to all my fav places there as he has never been before. one of these includes the boardwalk down by the river - past all the icecream shops and cafes... yum!
i cant wait - and this is what i imagine myself wearing:

grey blue and the rain

these hues remind me of winter rains - which i am missing day by day as summer is fast approaching here in australia. yes i am jealous of you northern hemispherers. I love this look... hijab + neck scarf. a very cool look for the onset of cold weather.

baby blues

i decided i need to widen my closet. My abayas are mainly black and i realised while flicking through them today that i am lacking colour. I kept on buying up black because i like the khaleeji style but after black all day at work (our work uniform is a black abaya) and black all weekend - it can really start to take its toll.. so here is a little blue to freshen up my dark closet.

By Request: Paisley Kaftan

Ok i was sent this link to the gorgeous kaftan below and asked to match a few things up to it

it is so pretty and at first thought i would play on the pinks (I'm more of a pink than a blue girl), but decided the baby blue satin was something that was way too beautiful to pass up...
so i matched the kaftan with baby blue accessories, blue hijab, blue wedges and blue jewellery - which will no doubt sparkle in the home without hijab, just as much as outside the house with full hijab.

black and blue

mostly two-tonal outfits are so much more of a fashion statement than 500 colours mixed together. thats where i think some hijabies go wrong. they can dress sometimes over the top and miss the mark on looking modest and stylish. i like this outfit below - but would suggest finding a longer version of this top:
