bikini vs burqini::: beach wear

hmmm.. to beach, to beach.. but what do you wear? bikini or burqini? Most of you ( i hope) would prefer the burqini... however, how modest are they?
I have seen the original Burqini (invented in Australia... YAY!!!) and i have seen other brands too.
Some versions are not fully modest. Many may have modest tops.. but the bottom half is basically full-length lycra tights. Skin tight. You can see every muscle, every sinew, every tiny bump.

This one here, although very pretty, is very form fitting on the thighs:::

Another look - *very* tight pants. the polka dot top is fun and fantastic, but the pants leave nothing to the imagination:::

Here are some muslimah swimwuits that i consider modest and very cute::::

Love my black - hijabi swimsuit khaleeji style maybe?:::
I love this one and think the long top is cute (but the pants look a little too tight for me):::

Hijabi swimmer - Aussie version... proud to see an Aussie Hijabi Life Guard - just wish the pants were looser:::

Here are some that i *love* *love* *love*... very modest... extremely gorgeous... and very happy fun times hijabi looking (i will take the green one):::

This one is more for walks on the beach, rather than swimming.. but i would run into the water with it on:::

The original Ahiida Burqini (aren't aussie's clever?) - i like this style - but out of fear for the head flap i would wear a different hijab over the top:::

One thing i hate about burqini is the floppy head thing hanging down off the back of your head. To me it kinda looks retarded.

So instead i always wear a normal, light-weight hijab in the water. just make sure all loose ends are tucked in so you dont have your scarf flapping in your face while you are trying to swim. here are some normal hijab styles for the water:::

although i hate the burqini style hijab - i do think this Aussie life guard is cute with her traditional life guard's cap onto of her hijab:::

Another Burqini style i love - all black:::
This whole post came from an email from a Sydney Sister called Aishi, who sent me a question about what i would wear for a hijabi swimming session.

Well i dont go swimming too often here because, wallahi, there have been shark sightings every week and in the last few weeks people in various places in Australia (including my city) have been eaten by Sharks. So i tend to keep off the beach.

I do love swimming and the last time i went swimming in the big Australian Oceans i wore something similar to this:::
beach hijabi
i wore footless black leggings under a very long sarong that i tied exactly like above. the great thing about this, is that when you are in the water and covered by the water you can tie the whole sarong around your hips, so you are free to move around and swim freely. I also wore a short caftan/tunic thingy. Make sure it is a synthetic material so you can move around like a fish! Not stiff hard materials please. And because it was white, which is see-through when wet, i wore a cute t-shirt under it.

i took a huge pretty soft beach towel and stayed true to my Aussie Culture and wore thongs, no fancy shoes for me. I will continue to call them thongs. i know maybe in your part of the world you call them sandals or flip-flops and that things is what you may call a certain type of underwear- but i'm unashamedly Aussie and i will stick to 'thongs'.

Of course i had the non-muslims looking.. but i didnt care. i was having fun in the water with my husband, until i nearly had a stroke and crapped my pants when a stingray decided it wanted to share my space. well, actually, i guess it was more of a case of me being in it's space.
